Summary
After a shortened racing season last year, finishing after round 4 of Porsche Michelin Challenge, Hamish has been busy off the track putting together a campaign for this year’s Porsche Carrera Cup. Having only done just 10 laps in a Porsche GT3 992 and not been on a race track since Round 4 of Porsche Sprint Challenge at Queensland Raceway in August last year, it’ll certainly be a fresh challenge for the young upcoming driver.
Who could forget that epic Sprint Challenge Round 3 at Townsville, co hosted by Supercars. Hamish started on pole, caused a false start in race 1 forcing him to start in pitlane with 24 cars ahead of him, then drove through the field to eventually win race 3 by 9 seconds.
Hamish will team up with one of the best Australian racing engineers in Paul Ceprnich from Pace Innovations racing under Troy Russell from Melbourne Performance Centre.
Whilst Round 1 at Sydney Motorsport Park will be Hamish’s first time in a 992, he did drive back in 2022 in a Porsche GT3 991 in his first year in Sprint Challenge, taking his first round podium, finishing in third place overall.
In support of this year's Carrera Cup, Hamish has many partners and supporters from last year together with some new, including; Nuvento, Diesel Spec Mechnancial, MRA Roofing, Stop & Seal, JAMEC Racing, Innovation Race Cars, RSM Australia, Personalised Plates Queensland, Confluent and Pace Innovations.
"I’m mostly looking forward to working with an experienced team in MPC and Paul Ceprnich as my engineer for Paynter Dixon Porsche Carrera Cup this year. There’s a lot I need to learn and I’m really looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead. Last year in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge I was able to prove that I have the pace and I look forward to putting together a highly competitive challenge for Carrera Cup this year." says Hamish Fitzsimmons
"I’m really looking forward to working with Hamish and Paul (Ceprnich) this year in the Carrera Cup and keen to see him level up in the category.", says Troy Russell Team Principal Melbourne Performance Centre
"I’m really looking forward to building on the success and relationship I’ve had with Hamish last year in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge. I know he has been working hard in the off season, and I’m sure he will give it a good shake this year. I look forward to mentoring Hamish and ensuring he gets the right support as he embarks on his next important phase of his motorsport career." says Paul Ceprnich of Pace Innovations
"I would like to thank all existing and new supporters, for without them I would not have been able to compete this year. It was really last minute, to get everything sorted and ready for round 1 and it was great to see them all rally around and contribute to my program. A huge call out to Paul Ceprnich from Pace Innovations who has provided me with much guidance through the off season and I’m really looking forward to working together to help me level up in motorsport.", says Hamish FItzsimmons in closing.
